In 1991, I began doing stained glass during my husband's sabbatical leave at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. We had toured the Steuben and Corning Glassworks, where I fell in love with the Tiffany pieces in the museum. One evening course in the fundamentals of glassworking hooked me forever. I work only in copper foil, avoiding the hazards of leading, and reinforce larger pieces where necessary. The biggest challenge, as well as the greatest pleasure, is drawing my own designs, many of which feature birds--who seem to dare me to capture their grace and color.
